serious violence duty compliancy

The Serious Violence Duty came in to effect in January 2023, placing a new legal requirement on a range of public sector organisations to collaborate and plan to prevent and reduce serious violence within their local communities. We have a track record and specialism in designing responses to interpersonal violence and can help local areas to implement the new duties. Some ways we may be able to support you include:

  • Support for Community Safety Partnerships to develop a Serious Violence Strategy in line with the amendment to the Crime and Disorder Act (1998) using a public health approach to violence reduction in line with the Serious Violence statutory guidance

  • Conduct your local Serious Violence Strategic Needs Assessment using qualitative and quantitative methodologies

  • Develop lived experience mechanisms in line with the Serous Violence Statutory Guidance to ensure local voices are represented across your strategic response

  • Public speaking at training, events or Boards to share lived experience of the impact of serious violence and the need for whole system responses
